FAQs

Do you have a physical store I can visit?

We are an online store only sorry.  Our items are kept in a warehouse and your order will be processed there.

Do you offer combined shipping?

For buyers located in Non-EU Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand we can combine shipping for ePacket parcels weighing up to 2kgs.  For orders over 2kgs SAL Sea Mail is the cheapest option, however it will take a long time to arrive.  It is sometimes possible to save money with EMS Express depending on the size and weight of the items you wish to combine.  We will do our best to work something out for you.

For buyers located in the US, UK and Canada : SAL Sea Mail is the cheapest option when purchasing multiple items, however it will take a very long time to reach you.  It is sometimes possible to save money with EMS Express, depending on the size and weight of the items you wish to combine.  We will do our best to work something out for you.

Do you use recycled materials when packing?

We mostly use brand new boxes and packing pellets, however we occasionally use recycled boxes as well.  We don’t pack with newspaper as our items are one of a kind and need adequate cushioning for international transit.  Also, packing pellets are lighter than newspaper and help keep shipping costs down.

Can you ship with DHL or FedEx?

Currently we use Japan Post only.

Do you ship to the EU?

Currently we do not ship to certain countries in the EU.  There are very strict and expensive packaging laws in place and we are not licensed to send products to the following countries:  Germany, France, Greece, Spain, Poland, Austria, Slovakia, Lithuania and Slovenia.  Please contact us if you are located in other EU countries, as we will ship to you.

Who pays duties, taxes and customs fees?

Duties, taxes and customs fees are paid by the buyer.  You will need to pay these before you can receive your parcel.  Failure to do so will result in the box being returned to Japan.  In this case we will only refund the cost of the goods, shipping WILL NOT be reimbursed.

What happens if I don’t receive my parcel and it gets sent back to Japan?

Japan Post requires a signature upon delivery.  If you are not home, your postal service will leave a notice letting you know that they tried to deliver.  Please reschedule delivery within 14 days or the parcel will be sent back to Japan.  In that case you can pay to have it resent, or we can cancel the order and refund the cost of the goods.  Please note that shipping WILL NOT be reimbursed.

Do you offer discounts for multiple purchases?

Very sorry but our items are priced as low as we are willing to go.  We put a lot of time into researching what we sell, and our prices are based on what the actual items are worth.  We will do our best to save you money when shipping multiple items .

Is it possible to reserve items?

Yes, you can reserve items for up to 10 days.

Sure, we will see what we can do.

I bought something from another website and don’t know who made it, can you take a look at it for me?

Very sorry but checking potter marks and reading names on tomobako is sometimes very difficult and time consuming, we simply don’t have time to provide such a service.
