This listing is for a brand new maneki shiba made by Chugai Toen.  A maneki neko is a beckoning cat that’s believed to bring good luck to its owner, thus making them a very common sight in stores and restaurants. The maneki in this listing is a shiba dog made from a mould and decorated with orange and white paint, and it has a blue collar tied around its neck.  This particular maneki has his right paw raised and was made in collaboration with Beams Japan.  Beams launched a special project where they worked with local artisans across Japan to produce traditional items in new and unusual colours.  This piece also comes with its original paper storage box.

Chugai Toen refers to a large production kiln located in Seto city, Aichi Prefecture.  Chugai Toen produces ‘Yakushigama’ zodiac ornaments and seasonal decorations for New Year, and they also make ‘Seto Manekineko’ cats.  A lot of their products are made using slip moulds and fired at high temperatures.  They are then painted using spray guns and stencils, and some piece also involve hand-painting.  The local area also boasts the Maneki Neko Museum, one of the largest maneki cat museums in Japan.
