This listing is for set of three cups and six saucers made around 30-40 years ago by Hoya Japan.   They are made of bone china and decorated with blue flowers over a white glazed background.  The rims are trimmed with gold enamel and the Hoya mark can be found on the bottom of each piece.  Sorry but no box for this set.

Hoya is a leading producer of high quality glassware, and they also produce stunning porcelain bone chinaware.  Their beginnings can be traced back to 1941 when two brothers opened an optical glass factory in Tokyo.  After 1945 they expanded their business and began to produce handcrafted crystal glassware such as tumblers and stemware, as well as crystal chandeliers.  They also began producing high quality bone china around the same time.  Their designs often include finely hand-painted flowers, and these are only found in high-end department stores.  **Fellow sellers, this information was researched by Kominka Zakka and CANNOT be used in your own listings.
