This listing is for a small ichirin-zashi bud vase produced around 5 years ago for Tachikichi in Kyoto.  It was made using a slip mould and the front is decorated with a white egret over a grey background.  This piece is made of dark brown stoneware slip, and the rim is just wide enough to accommodate a few thin stemmed flowers.  The Tachikichi mark can be found on the bottom.

Tachikichi Inc. was founded in 1782 in Kyoto. In 1949 it was reorganized into a corporation, and in 1957 a specialty store was opened in the very exclusive Ginza district of Tokyo. Tachikichi specializes in classy porcelain and tableware, and their designs generally pertain to the different seasons in Japan. Most Tachikichi pieces are produced by Mino and Seto kilns, although their higher end products tend to be from Arita or Kyo-ware kilns.
