This listing is for a VERY SMALL silver shell plate and fork made around 40-50 years ago by Ohno & Son in Yokohama.  The kanji on the back of the shell reads as silver, and the small fork is also marked ‘silver’.  This set was most likely given as a gift to commemorate a special event such as the birth of a baby, anniversary etc.  It comes with its original case marked Ohno & Son.

Ohno & Son was established in 1948 along the Motomachi Shopping Street in Yokohama.  They initially opened as a store selling silverware and ceramics such as Satsuma ware for foreigners living in the Yamate area of ​​Yokohama.  Then, around the time of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, they began to see an increase in requests for silverware from Japanese customers.  Now they carry a wide range of silverware including tableware, accessories and stationery.  Ohno & Sons is now known as Silver Ohno, and they are reputed to be one of the best silver specialty stores in Japan.

Condition

There are marks and age spots on the interior and exterior of the box, and both items need polishing, particularly the fork.
