This listing is for a pair of plates made around 20 years ago for Tachikichi in Kyoto.  They are made of stoneware slip and the front of each plate is decorated with bamboo brushwork.   Bamboo is representative of summer and a popular motif for traditional brush paintings.  They are suitable for daily use and the Tachikichi mark can be found on the back of each plate.  **Shipping to the US, UK and Canada is very high these days, please ask about sea mail if you would like to save money.

Tachikichi Inc. was founded in 1782 in Kyoto. In 1949 it was reorganized into a corporation, and in 1957 a specialty store was opened in the very exclusive Ginza district of Tokyo. Tachikichi specializes in classy porcelain and tableware, and their designs generally pertain to the different seasons in Japan. Most Tachikichi pieces are produced by Mino and Seto kilns, although their higher end products tend to be from Arita or Kyo-ware kilns.
