This listing is for a pair of bookmarks made around 30-40 years ago for Ginza Wako Department Store. The gold writing on the lid of the wooden box says ‘kotobuki’, which can mean ‘congratulations’ or ‘long life’. Since this is a pair I imagine it might have been an anniversary gift. Please read below regarding the condition of the bookmarks.
Ginza Wako was established in 1881 by Hattori Kintaro. It is in located in the Ginza shopping district in downtown Tokyo, and is a luxury-specialised department store selling brand name goods. The sixth floor hosts art exhibits and there’s a tea room located in the annex building.
