This listing is for a vintage maekake apron dating back to the late Showa period. A maekake is a traditional type of work wear made from thick indigo coloured fabric. Maekake feature front pockets and are tied around the waist by long straps, the straps can accommodate pretty much any waist size. The apron in this listing is printed with the name and phone number of a business and reads as ‘Kura Takakuwa Shoten’ which translates as Takakuwa Store Warehouse. Takakuwa is a seafood business located in Aomori Prefecture. Maekake can be worn as aprons or repurposed for making bags, cushion covers etc.

Condition
It’s in very good condition aside from some rough stitching and loose threads, and some light dirt marks on the front. The zipper works just fine and the straps are in very good condition.
