This listing is for a reasonably large carry box dated Showa 13 (1938). It is made of wood and the grain of the wood is clearly visible through the lacquer, and there’s a wooden handle on top. These types of boxes are for carrying and storing jubako, this particular piece is nice and sturdy. The panel in front slides up and down and still operates as it should. The box is in very usable condition, but it would also make a great display item.  The kanji on the front includes the date, but unfortunately the other parts are difficult to read.

Condition

Overall it’s in good condition aside from some general surface wear, some scratches and scuffing, some wear along the edges, some shallow nicks/dents, and some minor cloudy lacquer.  The lid slides in and out as it should.
