This listing is for a Showa retro kiriko cut glass ashtray with the year 1957 engraved on the bottom.  It is cobalt blue and the coloured glass part is quite thick, suggesting its Satsuma kiriko.  The writing on the bottom explains that this was given as a memorial gift, and it was sold under the WING brand of luxury goods in Japan.  It comes with its original storage box.

Kiriko cut glass began 180 years during the Edo period and involved the technique of cutting patterns into the surface of glass. This type of glassware was very popular in Europe during the Meiji Period because of the unique Japanese designs and patterns reminiscent of kimono silk. Edo Kiriko remains popular today because of its beautiful designs and delicate cutting technology.
