This listing is for a SMALL Nambu tekki tetsubin with trivet made around 20 years ago. It has a built in strainer and the surface is decorated with many raised dots. This traditional type of pattern is known as arare, or hailstone pattern. The interior is protected by enamel coating, and it has a capacity of 250ml. The mark of the maker can be found on the bottom of the trivet, and under the spout of the tetsubin.

Nambu tekki is traditional Japanese ironware with both traditional and modern designs, including brightly coloured contemporary products for the French market. Nambu tekki was produced in Morioka City and in Mizusawa City to the south. It first started when craftsmen came from Kyoto and started producing ironware such as tea kettles, weapons, and temple bells. Today tea pots and kettles are still made by hand using traditional techniques.

Sizes

Teapot:  H.11.5cm (4.5”) including the handle/7.2cm (2.8”) without x 12cm (4.7”) from the end of the spout to the back of the teapot

Trivet:  H.1.2cm (0.4”) x Dia.9.7cm (3.8”)

Condition

It’s in very good condition aside from some minor wear on the knob of the lid and the handle.  There’s also some minor cloudiness on the interior, very minor surface rust just inside of the spout, however the teapot looks unused.
