This listing is for a set of five sencha tea cups made around 20-30 years ago for Tachikichi in Kyoto. They are thin walled and each cup is decorated with a Ninsei knot style decoration over a white porcelain base. The interior of the cups are white, and the rims are trimmed with gold overglaze. It is a very refined set ideal for serving sencha or bancha. The Tachikichi mark can be found on the bottom of each cup, and they come with their original signed wooden storage box.

Tachikichi Inc. was founded in 1782 in Kyoto. In 1949 it was reorganized into a corporation, and in 1957 a specialty store was opened in the very exclusive Ginza district of Tokyo. Tachikichi specializes in classy porcelain and tableware, and their designs generally pertain to the different seasons in Japan. Most Tachikichi pieces are produced by Mino and Seto kilns, although their higher end products tend to be from Arita or Kyo-ware kilns.
