This listing is for a Year of the Dragon guinomi made by Nousaku foundry.  It is made of 100% pure tin and moulded to resemble a dragon’s head.  Sake vessels depicting auspicious zodiac signs are recommended for special occasions such as New Year and other important celebrations.  Craftspeople typically don’t work with 100% pure tin because of tin’s softness, but Nousaku has decided to use that to their advantage.  Instead of mixing tin with other metals to make it harder, they decided to mould it and bend it to create beautiful cups like the guinomi in this listing.  This piece is completely unused and comes with its original paper storage box.  It also comes with a Japanese language profile paper. 

Nousaku is a metal casting manufacturer located in Takaoka city in Toyama Prefecture.  They have been in business for over 100 years and started out as a foundry producing Buddhist utensils.  Long established foundries in Takaoka tend to specialise in casting copper items, however Nousaku also uses soft metal such as tin to produce contemporary style wares that reflect the changing times.  Pure 100% tin products are created by combining traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations with flexible ideas and a spirit of challenge.  **Fellow sellers, this information was researched by Kominka Zakka and CANNOT be used in your own listings.
