This listing is for a TINY Tokoname-ware kyusu made around 20-30 years ago and signed ‘Sokawa’. It is wheel-thrown and decorated with incised kanji characters.  It has a capacity of 75ml which is only enough for one gulp of tea.  The spout area has a built-in strainer on the interior to prevent tea leaves from escaping when pouring, and the stamp of the potter can be found under the spout.  *PLEASE CHECK THE SIZE CAREFULLY BEFORE ORDERING, THIS IS A TINY TEAPOT.

Tokoname-ware refers to stoneware pottery made in Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture. This type of pottery has been in production for over 1000 years, and originally potters created religious items as well as tea utensils. Tokoname-ware is now more widely known for its pottery using red clay.
