This listing is for a Tokoname-ware chawan made around 40 years ago.  It is wheel-thrown and made of red ‘shudoro’ stoneware clay and has a nice smooth finish.  The stamp of the potter can be found on the bottom, and it comes with a paper storage box.  It also comes with a Japanese language profile paper about Shudoro. *PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CHASHAKU TEA SCOOP IS NOT INCLUDED.

Tokoname-ware refers to stoneware pottery made in Tokoname City in Aichi Prefecture. This type of pottery has been in production for over 1000 years, and originally potters created religious items as well as tea utensils. Tokoname-ware is now more widely known for its pottery using red clay.
