This listing is for a Tokoname-ware kyusu made around 10 years ago by noted potter Tsuzuki Seiho.  It is wheel-thrown and the exterior is decorated with the imprints of real momiji maples leaves over a slightly textured background.  This particular kyusu has a capacity of 500ml, and there’s a built-in strainer over the spout area to prevent tea leaves from pouring with the tea. The signature of the potter can be found on the bottom.   It comes with its original signed wooden storage box, as well as a stamped turmeric coloured wrapping cloth for when the item is not in use.  It also comes with a Japanese language profile paper about the potter.

Tsuzuki Seiho (b.1944) is a Tokoname-ware potter and first generation master of the family kiln.  He built his kiln in 1964 and primarily produces teaware such as kyusu and tea cups.  During his career he has exhibited at several exhibitions and received various awards.  His work was selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, and he received the Gold Medal Award at the annual Chozasho Tokoname Ceramic Art Exhibition.  His work was selected for the Ceramic Design Competition, as well as the Tokai Traditional Crafts Exhibition.  He received the Excellence Award and the Traditional Crafts Industry Award from the Prefectural Governor, and his work was selected and presented to the Grand Shrine of Ise in Mie Prefecture.  He is a regular member of Japan Kogei Association, and he currently works alongside his son Tsuzuki Yutaka at the family kiln.  **Fellow sellers, this information was researched by Koedo and CANNOT be used in your own listings.
