This listing is for a vintage Nambu tekki bottle opener made around 20-25 years ago by Iwachu Cast Ironworks in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture.  It is made of cast iron and is a commemorative item from the Iwachu Ironware museum.  The front is decorated with Mt. Iwate and the Upper Bridge in Morioka city, and the back features Iwachu’s tetsubin logo.

Iwachu Cast Ironworks has long been in the iron-ware business and is one of the most well-known producers of modern Nambu ironware throughout Japan. Craftsmen use traditional techniques and as a result their heavy duty cookware has earned them a well-deserved reputation worldwide. The production process is a long and arduous one taking anywhere from 64 to 68 steps to complete one item. Most of this process is still done by hand and it is strictly controlled by the master craftsman. It takes at least 15 years to fulfil the role of head craftsman, and this role is not taken lightly, so you can be assured that each piece is of the highest quality.
