This listing is for a Tobe-ware vase produced as a commemorative gift to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Iseki & Co. Iseki refers to an agricultural machinery company founded in 1926 in Ehime, Shikoku. The vases were not sold, they were distributed as gifts. The one in this listing is made of high-fired slip and coated in off white/cream glaze with a paste-resist design. The opening is wide enough to accommodate a few thin stemmed flowers, and the mark of the kiln can be found on the bottom.
Tobe-ware refers to porcelain produced in Tobe City in Ehime Prefecture. The area produces both studio and production pottery, although studio pottery is making quite a comeback these days. The clay body of Tobe-ware is known to be very thick and sturdy, and the surface is often described as having a cloudy appearance. The designs are usually very simple, and their diverse range of contemporary tableware is both practical and appealing.

Condition
The exterior has more of a matte glaze and there are marks here and there where the item has come into contact with other things. I was able to remove some using melamine sponge, however a few still remain.
